I was really hesitant at first - but Taterbug and his sophomore-at-Ekard College-mom are doing wonderfully well. And Tater has lots of aunties and a few uncles on campus! I'm actually waiting on pictures and a write up so we can do an article in our newsletter: Taterbug Goes to College. I think the success depends a lot on the maturity of the student and his or her commitment to the pet -- and in Taterbug's case is has been awesome.
